Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the diagnostic value of MR perfusion weighted imaging(MR PWI) in differentiation of benign from malignant soft tissue tumors.Methods:Twenty-one benign and 24 malignant soft tissue tumors were studied with MR PWI.MR PWI was analyzed to obtain blood volume(BV) and mean transit time(MTT) of tumors parenchyma.Blood flow(BF) of tumors parenchyma was acquired from formula:BF=BV/MTT.Results:The average value of BV was(44.04±6.18) and(178.45±20.32) ml/100mg in benign group and malignant group respectively. There was significant difference in mean BV between benign and malignant tumors(P0.05).The average value of MTT in benign group and malignant group was(1882.28±98.87) and(1907.26±44.20) s respectively with the difference being not significant between them(P0.05).The average value of BF in benign and malignant groups was(2.99±0.42)×10-2ml/(100mg·s) and(8.67±1.06)×10-2ml/(100mg·s) respectively with the difference being significant between them(P0.05);The accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of MR PWI in estimating the potential malignant of tumors were 88.89%(40/45),85.71%(18/21),91.67%(22/24),88.00%(22/25),90.00%(18/20),respectively.Conclusion:BV and BF of malignant tumors are higher than those of benign ones.BV and BF are helpful to differentiate benign from malignant soft tumors.MTT has limited value to differentiate benign from malignant soft tumors.
