Abstract

Objective To study the expression of urokinase-type plasminogen activator and its receptor in gliomas, and analysis the relationship between uPA expression and the grade of human gliomas. Methods In surgical sample of 58 patients with glioma,10 samples of normal brain tissues obtained from craniocerebral injury surgery, the level of uPA protern and mRNA were studied using Immunohistochemistry and semi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Results Along with the rise of glioma grade, the uPA expression rate and level were also upregulated.Of which normal brain tissures were extremely lower. Conclusion The high level of uPA expression reflect a malignant biological behavior of glioma cells.
