Initiation and Development of the Flower Bud in Lilium formolongi

The flower bud differentiation process of Lilium formolongi was studied with the method of paraffin section in order to investigate its flower bud differentiation property.The results showed that the process could be divided into five phases:floral primordial differentiation stage,out-petal differentiation stage,in-petal differentiation stage,stamen differentiation stage and pistil differentiation stage.The flower bud differentiation process had remarkable posotive correlation with the sum of visible internodes.Floral primordial differentiated when the visible internodes had 7~8.The results also showed that the number of visible internodes was the indication of flower differentiation stage of Lilium formolong.
