Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between circadian rhythm and ambulatory arterial stiffness index(AASI),and ankle-brachial index(ABI) in patients with essential hypertension.Method: According the results of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring,essential hypertension patients were divided into dipper blood pressure group(n=190),non-dipper group(n= 204),ultra-dipper group(n=186) and anti-dipper group(n=179).AASI was calculated and ABI was measured.Result: AASI: anti-dipper group non-dipper group ultra-dipper group dipper group.AASI among all groups had significant differences(all P0.05);ABI: dipper group= ultra-dipper group non-dipper group anti-dipper group.ABI had significant differences between dipper group,ultra-dipper group and non-dipper group,anti-dipper group(P0.05).Conclusion: Abnormal circadian rhythm of blood pressure and AASI and ABI are closely related.Restoring of circadian rhythm of blood pressure is effective in prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis and target organ damage.
