Abstract
The fire performance and mechanical properties of EPDM/EVM blends containing intumescent flame retardants and encapsulated red phosphorus and their synergism were discussed in this paper.It is shown that the optimal ratio of intumescent flame retardant APP/PER was 3∶1,and the LOI could reach 25.7.The single addition of encapsulated red phosphorus had some degree flame-retardant effect on EPDM /EVM system,and could not meet the requirements in most cases.It was shown by studying the flame-retardant properties and thermal behavior characterization that the P-N synergist effect between intumescent flame retardant and encapsulated red phosphorus did exist.
