Abstract

Non-halogen flame retarded styrenebutadiene rubber(SBR) was prepared by blending method with P-N type intumescent flame retardant(IFR) and inorganic flame retardant Al(OH) 3/P as flame retardant components. The synergistic effect of the two types of flame retardant was studied and cone calorimeter testing, and the thermo-gravimetric behavior of flame retarded SBR was investigated. The results showed that when IFR and Al(OH) 3/P were used in SBR simultaneously, the limiting oxygen index of the composites reached 29% and the UL-94 was V-0 grade, and the heat release rate decreased significantly, exhibiting the synergistic effect of the two flame retardants. At air atmosphere, the two flame retardants could promote char forming together.
