Abstract
An application of dynamic compaction to placement of a high road embankment with a height of 41m in Yuncheng-Sanmenxia expressway was introduced.The results of monitoring during dynamic compaction and in the long period after compaction were analyzed and compared with those of roller compaction.It is obvious that dynamic compaction has some advantages such as higher degree of compaction,wider suitable range of water contents and higher construction speed over the roller compaction and can be spread in many high placement projects.In addition,the application of fabric-enclosed sand drain in treatment of overwet foundation of road embankment was also introduced.
