Therapeutic Effectiveness of Comprehensive Therapy for Patients with Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy and Its Influence on the Level of Plasma Substance P

Objective:To observe clinical efficacy of comprehensive therapy for patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy and its influence on the level of plasma substance P(SP).Methods:Eighty cases of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy were randomly divided into treatment group(acupuncture,massage with drug),control group 1(acupuncture combined with massage),control group 2(acupuncture combined with drug),control group 3(massage combined with drug),every 20 cases in each group.The clinical efficacy was observed,and plasma SP was measured before and after treatment.Results:After treatment for 12 days,plasma SP levels were significantly reduced in all groups,and those in treatment group were significantly lower than in control groups(all P0.01).The effective rate in treatment group(95.0%) was significantly higher than in control groups 1,2 and 3(60.0%,63.2% and 60.0% respectively,P0.05).Conclusion:The comprehensive therapy for cervical spondylotic radiculopathy can significantly reduce the plasma SP level,relieve the pain and improve the therapeutic efficacy.
