Abstract
The red color embodies different cultural connotations in Chinese and English.Most of the red color words are commendatory ones in Chinese while in English derogatory ones.This paper probes into cultural origin causing cultural difference through the analysis of different cultural connotations of the red color words.It is hoped that the study can benefit English learners.
