Abstract
A new kinetic spectrophotometric method for the determination of ascorbic acid was developed.It is based on the inhibition of the iodine catalysed discoloring reaction of malachite green oxidized by chloramine T with ascorbic acid in hydrochloric acid medium.The linear range of determination is 0—10μg/mL,and the detection limit is 1.2×10 -7 g/mL.The method was used for the determination of ascorbic acid in pharmaceutical products with satisfactory results.The mechanism of the reaction was also discussed.
