Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the drug-resistance and distribution of TEM and PER types of beta-lactamase in 130 Acinetobacter baumannii strains isolates in a teaching hospital.METHODS K-B diffsion was used in susceptibility test to detect the resistance of 130 A.baumannii strains against common antibiotics.TEM and PER types of beta-lactamase were assayed by polymerase chain reaction(PCR).RESULTS Among 130 isolates of multidrug resistant A.baumannii, the resistant rates to cefoperazone/sulbactam,and piperacillin/tazobactam were 40.00% and 60.77%,respectively.The resistant rates to imipenem and meropenem were 5.38% and 6.15%,respectively.TEM-positive was observed in 70 isolates.PER-1 was detected in 4 isolates.Thirty four isolates were found positive for TEM combined with PER-1.Twenty two isolates were negative for TEM or PER-1.CONCLUSIONS A.baumannii shows high resistance to common antibiotics.TEM is found in the most strains of A.baumannii isolated from the teaching hospital. Some isolates habour both TEM and PER-1.
