Abstract

Objective To investigate the characteristic of protein kinase C(PKC)in mice hippocampal neurons with vascular dementia(VD).Methods Sixty Kunming mice(3 months old)were divided into model group and sham group randomly. The VD model was established by three times ischemia and reperfusion of bilateral common carotid arteries. The sham group underwent the surgery without ligating the common carotid arteries. The behavioral scores in all mice were tested by step down test and water maze test at days 29,30,respectively.The changes of PKC in hippocampal CA1 region were presented by immunohistochemistry technique. Results It demonstrated that the score of learning and memory in model group was significantly lower than sham group(P0.05).The expression of PKC in hippocampal CA1 region was significantly lower in the model group(0.27±0.07)than in the sham group(0.32±0.06)(P0.05).Conclusion It suggested that the lower expression of PKC in hippocampal neurons of VD might be participated in pathogenesis of VD.
