Abstract
Objective:To investigate the treatment of cracked molars.Methods: 136 patients with 145 cracked molars have been enrolled.Nine cases were filled with composite resin and received adjustment of occlusion;26 were filled with composite resin and then received full crown restoration;and the other 110 cases received full crown restoration after root canal therapy.All patients have been followed-up for more than 2 years.Results: Cracked molars were more prevalent in men and at the age of 35-54.They were most prevalent in the first maxillary molar,and the predilection type of cracked molar was mesiodistal direction.The total success rate of the 145 cracked molars was 85.52%.Conclusions: Full crown restoration after root canal therapy was an effective way to cure cracked molars.
