Abstract

A ion chromatographic method was developed for determination of residual sulfur dioxide in dry cargo. The sample was distilled under acidic conditions, received by solution of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate, and then determination by ion chromatography with conducting detection. The distillation unit was filled with nitrogen.Shodex SI-90E(250mm×4.0mm id.)analytical column and Shodex SI-90G(10mm×4.6mm id.)guard column was used,1mmol/L Na2 CO3 +4mmol/L NaHCO3 +5% acetone was used as mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.4mL/min.The calibration curves were linear between the peak area and the concentration in the range of 0.2~8mg/L for sulfur dioxide, the correlation coefficients were greater than 0.999.The average recoveries spiked in dry cargo at the concentration level ranged from 92~102%.
