New Species of Scelimenidae (Orthoptera:Tetrioidea) from Guangxi

Abstract

In this paper, two new species of Scelimenidae are described. Beside, the male of Criotettix hainanensis Liang is described. Type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Shaanxi Normal University, China. 1. Criotettix beihaiensis, sp. nov.(Figs.1~3) This new species is allied to Criotettix damingshanensis Zheng et Jiang 1998 and Criotettix nigrifemurus Zheng et Deng 2004, but it differs from both in: 1) hind wing not reaching or reaching the top of pronotum; 2) the first jiont of hind tarsi about 1.6 times of the third jiont; 3) hind margin of subgenital plate of female with three teeth. It differs from the former in: 1) antennae situated the lower margin of eyes; 2) width of middle femur narrower than the width of elytra. It differs from thelatter by: 1) in profile, vertex and frontal ridging angle obtuse rounded; 2) hind margin of subgenital plate of female length is larger than width, lateral margin straight. Length of body: ♀12.5 mm; length of pronotum: ♀14.3~14.8 mm; length of hind femur: ♀8.0~8.5 mm. Holotype ♀, Guangxi: Hepu (Shikang), 109.3°E, 21.7°N, 80 m, 09-Ⅱ-2005, collected by WEI Shi-zhen. Paratypes 2♀♀, as holotype, collected by DENG Wei- an. 2. Criotettix cliva, sp. nov. (Figs.4~6) The new species is allied to Criotettix brachynotus Zheng et Jiang 1994, but differs in: 1) in profile, upper margin of pronotum obvious protruding before shoulders; 2) hind wing not reaching the top of hind process; 3) lower margin of middle femora near wave like; 4) upper midkeel of posterior femur has antegenicular denticles. Length of body:♀13.5 mm; length of pronotum: ♀14.2 mm; length of hind femur: ♀8.0 mm. Holotype ♀, Hepu (Shikang), Guangxi, 12-Ⅱ-2005, collected by WEI Shi-zhen.
