Abstract
Organo-montmorillonite was prepared by means of compounding modification,nylon-6/MMT was prepared by in situ polymerization. The organo-montmorillonite was characterized by means of FTIR,TG-DTA,XRD.The results showed that the organic reagent had intercalated into the layers of MMT.The layer space of MMT increased from 1.39 nm to 2.32 nm.Modified montmorillonite was observed to possess improved dispersion behavior and adhesion with nylon-6.The nanocomposites possessed preferably mechanical properties. The results of mechanical test showed that the tensile strength and notch impact strength of nylon-6 were increased by 16% and 5% respectively, when the containing of clay was 2%.
