Abstract

The effects of different concentrations of sucrose and PEG-4000 on pollen germination and pollen tube growth of Pyrus pyrifolia(Burm.F.)Nakai cv.Whangkeumbae were studied. The results showed that appropriate amount of sucrose and PEG-4000 was conductive to the pollen germination and the pollen tube growth. But when the concentration was too high,it inhibited pollen germination and pollen tube growth. When the sucrose concentration was 100 g/L,the pollen germination rate and pollen tube length reached 41.3%and 693μm respectively. When the PEG-4000 concentration was 15 g/L,the pollen germination rate and pollen tube length reached 39.9%and 675μm respectively. The concentration of 50 mg/L H3BO4,10 mg/L MgSO4,100 g/L sucrose and 15 g/L PEG-4000 was suitable to pollen germination and pollen tube growth.
