Abstract

Objective To study the allele frequencies and genotype distribution of CD14 gene promoter -159C/T polymorphism in normal Hans population in Guangxi Province,and to analyze the distribution of CD14 polymorphism among different races. Methods CD14 genotypes were examined by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) method in 208 Han individuals. The frequencies of allele and genotype of CD14 polymorphism were compared with other ethnics. Results The frequencies of CC, CT and TT genotypes were found to be 14.9%, 54.3% and 30.8%;the frequencies of C and T allele were found to be 42.1% and 57.9% in the Han populations. CD14 gene polymorphisms had no significant difference between male and female (P0.05). Compared with Germans, Norwegians, Greeks, Czechs, Israel, Italians populations, the CD14 polymorphism was significantly different(P0.05). Conclusion CD14 gene promoter -159C/T polymorphism exits in normal Hans population of Hu Bei, and its distribution is significantly different among ethnics. These differences might be one of the genetic factors contributing to the different pathogenesis, progression and prognosis in some diseases among ethnics.
