Abstract
The paper presents the nonlinear finite element analysis for the Y-eccentrically braced steel frames on the different length of link beam.Analysis indicates that the strength, rigidity, ductility and energy-dissipation performance of Y-eccentrically braced steel frames deteriorate differently with the length increase of the link beam. The shorter the link beam is,the larger the plastic deformation of it will be,which will lead to the result that the link beam is likely to be plastically collapsed earlier and a longer link beam has a poor cyclic behavior. Finally, this paper suggests the design of the length of link beam based on finite element simulation results.
