Abstract
Aim To evaluate the sustainable development of Xi'an quantitatively.Methods Calculating ecological deficit on the basis of ecological footprint and ecological carrying capacity theories,this is a biophysics method.Results At first the per capita ecological footprint and ecological carrying capacity were calculated in Xi'an from 1997 to 2005,the ecological deficit of these nine years was elicited were calculated.The results show that the development of Xi'an in these years has been in a continuous unsustainable development.Conclusion Analysis of reasons of unsustainable development in Xi'an provides the strategies of sustainable development and the direction to improvement.
