An Analysis of CHEN Du-xiu's Thoughts on Enlightenment Education

Abstract

Gratifying achievements have been made on the study of CHEN Du-xiu's education thoughts especially his thoughts on university education.However,the research on his thoughts of enlightenment education has not been conducted in depth partly due to the lack of research data or the incompleteness as well as self-contradiction existing in CHEN Du-xiu's thoughts on enlightenment education.In fact,CHEN Du-xiu's thoughts on enlightenment education can compare favorably with his thoughts on university education.He put forward some viewpoints on enlightenment education which can be used as excellent references for the reform of compulsory education nowadays.
