Some Thoughts on the Reform of College English Teaching in the New Criteria of the Latest Syllabus

At the beginning of the 21~(st) century, with the coming of knowledge economy,information society,globalization of economy,and the co-existence of multi-cultures,the language of English is becoming more and more important in the economic competition and cultural communication among nations.That is to say,the coming of the new century brings not only a challenge but also a chance to our College English teaching.The reform of the primary education acquires a brand new idea in fostering students’ potentials and their creative thinking.This paper attempts to make an analysis on certain problems confronting College English teaching nowadays,then puts forward some ways of improving College English teaching.
