Clinical observation of 80 cases of infantile congenital lacrimal obstruction

OBJECTIVE To study proper treatment method and time for 80 cases of infantile congenital lacrimal obstruction.METHODS Children with congenital lacrimal obstruction were divided into1-3 month group,3-8 month group and 8-15 month group.They were treated with massage treatment,rinse treatment,and lacrimal duct probing treatment.The effects of the treatments were studied.RESULTS 12 cases were cured by massage treatment;48 cases were cured by massage treatment and lacrimal passage probing treatment.65.38% were cured in 1-3 month group;97.12% were cured in 3-8 month group;63.16% were cured in 8-15 month group.The total cure rate of 3-8 month group was significantly higher than the other two groups.In 1-3 month group,the cure rate of massage treatment was higher than the other 2 treatments.CONCLUSION For 3-8 month children,rinse treatment and lacrimal duct probing treatment are the best treamt;For 1-3 month children,massage should be used,and if it has no effect,rinse treatment and lacrimal duct probing treatment should be used when they are 3-8 month old.
