Abstract

Drought and water shortage are the main constraints that affect agricultural production in China. It is one of the important measures to cope with drought by improving the farmers adoption level of agricultural water saving technology.Based on actual survey data of 333 farmers in 17 cities in Shandong Province, the research revealed the factors affecting farmers agricultural water-saving technology adoption by using logistic model. The results show that farmers in the arid regions generally recognize the important role of water-saving technologies to stabilize agricultural production, but the differences of water saving techniques adoption among farmers were significantly different, and 51.04% of rural households used the spray drip micro-irrigation.The key factors that influenced farmers to adopt different techniques is the degree of water shortage, the household cultural level, agricultural water prices, irrigation costs, and terrain characteristics. The rigid constraints of the shortage of water resources and land characteristics, the suitability of agricultural water management systems, and the convenience of agricultural water-saving techniques affected the farmer's adopting of different techniques.
