Abstract

Cotton seeds were soaked in chitosan solution of different concentrations(0.1%,0.2%,0.3%,0.4%,0.5%)for 12 hours in comparison with seeds in water.Then cultured them for 7 days at room temperature and 8 hours at natural light every day.Seed germination rate,germination power,germination index,vigor index and activity of a-amylase,POD and CAT were higher than the control.With the increasing of chitosan concentration,all indexes increaded at first and then decreased,When the concentration was 0.2%,the seed germination rate,germination energy,germination index,vigor index,a-amylase,POD and CAT activity were increased by 16.7%,3.17%,2.63,30.7,96.87%,37.42% and 33.78% respectively,and it was the optimum concentration.
