Abstract

In this paper, the contents of heavy metals(Cd,Pb and Hg) in soil and two common vegetables(turnip and Chinese cabbage) in the main vegetable production areas of northeast suburbs of Jinan were examined and analyzed. The results showed that the single pollution index of heavy metal was in the order of HgCdPb and all were less than 1 with the over sanitary standard rate as 8.3%.The comprehensive pollution index was 0.560,so the soil was safe. The contents of Cd,Pb and Hg in vegetables were below the sanitary standard for pollution-free vegetables. The absorption ability of Cd in vegetables was much higher than that of Pb and the heavy metal concentrations in Chinese cabbage were higher than those in turnip.
