Abstract

Objective To investigate the gene expression levels of PCNA, C- erbB- 2, bcl- 2 and p16 in lymph node metastasis of gastric carcinoma. Methods The gene expressions of PCNA, C- erbB- 2, bcl- 2 and p16 were examined in 36 cases of lymph node metastasis of gastric carcinoma with the S- P immunohistochemical technique. Results The expression rate of PCNA, C- erbB- 2, and bcl- 2 proved higher in N1 than in N2 and N3 in the lymph node metastasis of gastric- antrum carcinoma, showing a falling tendency in N2 and N3 in various types of lymph node metastasis of gastric carcinoma. The expression rate of p16 showed a rising tendency in N3 and rested at lowest in the lymph node metastasis of gastric muco- adenocarcinoma. Conclusions Combined polygenic protein examination in the lymph node metastasis of gastric carcinoma can make an important reference aid in estimating the postoperative metastasis status and the prognosis.
