Mencius' Economic Thoughts and

Chinese ancient economic thoughts could be an important cultural source for the economics with Chinese characteristics.As the leading representative of the ancient Chinese economic thinkers,Mencius' thought is based upon the Confucian view of justice and interest with the essential economic idea of the principle of the Golden Mean. As regards the assumptions of humanity,Mencius proposed the concept of goodness of human nature, and thus advocated the policy of benevolence and relevant economic strategies.Since Mencius's thoughts have fully revealed the harmonious features of traditional Chinese culture,modern economists could draw from Mencius and Confucian economic ideas in order to construct modern Chinese economics with its own characteristics on the basis of western economics.
