Abstract

Objective:To investigate the protective effects of cycloastragenol on brain injury induced by focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion in rats. Methods:Focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion(ischemia 2h, reperfusion 24h) injury rats' model was set up by blocking the middle cerebral artery with suture; before operation the rats were given cycloastragenol for 7 days. The Garcia JH neurological score of rats were evaluated; TTC method was used to calculate the infarction volume of rats. Results:The Garcia JH neurological score of rats in cycloastragenol high dose and middle dose group were obviously higher than that of rats in model group(P 0.05), but the infarction volume was obviously lower(P 0.05). Conclusions:Cycloastragenol can increase the neurological score and reduce infarction volume of cerebral ischemia reperfusion model rats, so it has protective effects on focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion brain injury.
