Modernity and Aesthetic Self-awareness

As a vague and ambiguous concept, modernity presents various characters in different fields. As an inseparable aspect of modernity, the aesthetic self-awareness pursues modernity as emancipation of sensation rather than cult of rationality as can be seen in the Enlightenment. While the aestheticist for art's sake helps to clarify the modern understanding of artistic liberty, the establishment of aesthetics proves to be an aesthetic self-awareness and the modernist art based on for art's sake turns to be an artistic self-awareness.
