Abstract

Objective To analyze the pathogenic epidemiology of AFP(acute flaccid paralysis ) of Guangdong in 2002. Methods The feces specimens of 292 AFP cases were collected, and conducted for virus isolation and identification. The correlation of the immunization history, sex, age and 60 days follow up result of AFP cases were analyzed. Virus isolation and identification of AFP cases feces specimen were conducted with RDa、L20B and Hap 2 cells. Results 22 PV(poliovirus)strains were isolated with 7.53% of the positive rate . All of them were vaccine strains, of which 12 strains were PVⅡ(predominant strains). 15 NPEV were isolated with a positive rate of 5.1%. It is lower than the level from 1994 to 2001. The PV positive rate of AFP cases with zero dose OPV immunization was 30.0% and which was higher than that of the cases with 1~2 doses and 3 doses immunization. The PV positive rate was 33.3% in the 15 cases of indeterminable residual paralysis, which was higher than that in other cases. The isolation positive rate using Hap 2 cells was higher than using other cells. Conclusion No polio case caused by wild poliovirus was found of Guangdong province in 2002.
