Abstract
The paper maintains that the present unpopularity of the poetic works of CHANG Yao lies in regional and historical factors, and that the true value of his poetry ranks him among the top poets of the twentieth-century China: the artistic handling of and the aesthetic transcendence over his own tragedy makes his poetry a combination of human nature and reason.
