Abstract

Objectives To explore the relationship between the immunohistochemical expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and the pathological grading of astrocytomas, and to discuss the value of HSP70 to estimation of the prognosis of the patients with astrocytomas. Methods SP immunohistochemical staining technique was used to deturmine HSP70 expression in the specimens taken from 96 cases of the astrocytomas, and the relationship between the HSP70 expression and prognosis was analyzed in 96 patients with astrocytomas. Result The percentage of positive HSP70 expression was significantly correlated positively with the pathological grades of the astrocytomas (P0.01). Conclusion Detection of the positive rate of HSP70 expression was helpful to the estimation of the prognosis in the patients with astrocytomas.
