Confucian Understanding and Dealing of Buddhism and Its Relationship with Confucianism in Song Dynasty——Zhu Xi's Inspection of and Excess over Predecessors

This paper tries to present Zhu Xi's understanding and inspection of Buddhism and its relationship with Confucianism from the following aspects: discrimination of the studies blending with Buddhism,improvement of the understanding of Buddhism,summary of the opinions on differences between Buddhism and Confucianism,and improvement of the strategies for Song Confucians to win a victory over Buddhism.Based on this,it is argued that Zhu not only carried on previous thought but also surpassed his predecessors.
