Abstract
This paper tries to present Zhu Xi's understanding and inspection of Buddhism and its relationship with Confucianism from the following aspects: discrimination of the studies blending with Buddhism,improvement of the understanding of Buddhism,summary of the opinions on differences between Buddhism and Confucianism,and improvement of the strategies for Song Confucians to win a victory over Buddhism.Based on this,it is argued that Zhu not only carried on previous thought but also surpassed his predecessors.
