Abstract

Phosphytungstic acid was used as the catalyst for preration o f methyl β-naphthyl ether. The optimum reaction conditions are as follows : mass ratio of catalyst to reactant 4%,the ratio of number of moles methanol andβ-naphthol was 40:1,reaction time 10h.Under the optimum reaction conditions the yield was up to 43%.
