Abstract

This article aims at exploring the feasibility of applying Landscape Painting Theory in translation of Chinese poetry, based on a comparative analysis of the inherent relations between poetry and landscape painting in the aspect of origin, structure and aesthetic orientation. It is found that the principles of poetry are similar to that of Landscape Painting Theory to a considerable extent in philosophical origin, artistic techniques and aesthetic orientation. That is to say they both offer proper room for readers' aesthetic imagination. The author therefore concludes that Landscape Painting Theory is applicable to translation of Chinese poetry, which will result in a successful integration of painting effect into poetry.
