Open publisher page 9 citations

Abstract

Spontaneous combustion of coal is an extremely complicated physical chemistry process and the moisture is the important factor of the influence of coal oxidation. The effects of moisture on spontaneous combustion of coal was discussed from the catalyzing function in the initiation stage of spontaneous combustion and the suppressing action to the coal respectively in this paper. Then, the physical chemistry mechanism of spontaneous combustion was studied. Finally, in allusion to the examples of some diggings, the account of spontaneous combustion by the influence of moisture was analyzed. Moisture in coal has effect on coal oxidation, heat storage and heat emission process, but moisture in coal is an inhibitor or a catalyzer in spontaneous combustion should be analyzed according to the specific condition.
