Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of Salviamiltiorrhiza on the proliferation and apoptosis of fibroblast-like synoviocytes(FLSs) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in vitro.Methods Thelevels of cell proliferation of RA FLSs after 24 h treated with different concentrations of Salviamiltiorrhiza were measured by monotetrazolium colorimetric assay method(MTT).The percentages of RA FLSs apoptosis were detected by flow cytometry.Results The levels of cell proliferation of RA FLSs after 24 h treated with different concentrations of Salviamiltiorrhiza were significantly decreased compared with the control group (P0.05).The percentages of the apoptotic cells were not change between the control group and the 0.195 mg/ml concentration of Salviamiltiorrhiza treated after 24 h,but greatly increased when the concentration of Salviamiltiorrhiza reach 0.39 mg/ml(P0.01).Conclusions Salviamiltiorrhiza inhibits the proliferation of RA FLSs and induces cell apoptosis in vitro.
