Abstract
Confucius and Aristotle are founders of Chinese and western literary theory and aesthetics. Confucius's view of Xing poetry theory is a creative idea in the history of China's literary criticism. It has long-term effects on Chinese poetry creation and commentary. Affecting the western drama and other styles, Aristotle's Katharsis theory is a remarkable content of western literary theory and western aesthetics. These two theories are born with different background in different times, which results in their different logic basis and working styles, but from the social function of literary and aesthetic value they both advocate doctrine, the aesthetic principles.
