Abstract
Objective: To explore the protein expression of PCNA in breast cancer tissues and its relation to the clinico-pathological parameters and prognosis. Methods: Expressions of PCNA in paraffin-fixed tissue sections collected from 76 patients with breast cancer were detected by SP immuno-histochemical stainning. Results: The expression rate of PCNA protein was 78.9%.It was correlated to tumor size of breast cancer(P0.01).The positivity rate of PCNA expression in cases with lymphogenous metastasis(39/45)was significantly higher than that with non-lymphogenous metastasis(21/31)(P0.05).With the increase of histological grade the positivity rate of PCNA expression increased(P0.05).Conclusion: The exprssion of PCNA was closely linked to the clinico-pathological parameters and prognosis of breast cancer, and should be considered to a certain extent as an index of malignant degree and prognosis.
