The Study on Utilization of Wild Woody Ornamental Plant Resources in Hunan

There are more than 5 500 species of vascular plants in Hunan,including wild woody ornamental plants 1 200 species. According to the distribution regularities of woody ornamental plants nature in Hunan,wild woody ornamental plants are divided into four types: moderate temperature type, low temperature type, freezing resistance type, expand temperature type. Primary wild woody ornamental plants in Hunan as needle genera(39 species), Camellia(31 species),Ilex(68 species),Rhododendron(54 species),Maple(42 species) etc. are discussed. And those species with special ornamental traits, exploitation value,cold resistance and breeding potential are described emphatically. The paper put forward some suggestions for exploitation and utilization of the wild woody ornamental plants.
