Abstract
Objective To investigate the causes of primary trigeminal neuralgia and evaluate the therapeutic effect and related factor of microvascular decompression on primary trigeminal neuralgia in elderly patients. Methods The clinical data of 26 old aged patients underwent primary trigeminal neuralgia were analyzed. The therapeutic effect and complications of microvascucular decompression were evaluated. Results The pain of 20 cases disappeared and none relapsed.5 cases with little painwas controlled with medication.1 patient was invalid. Conclusion MVD is effective to treat primary trigeminal neuralgia in elderly patients in the parapontine region.
