Effects of glycyrrhizin on Proteinuria in rats with adriamycin nephropathy

Objective It is to observe the effect of glycyrrhizin(GL) on proteinuria changes and kidney function in rats with nephropathy caused by adriblastine, and to investigate whether GL has a protecting function on the kidney injury.Methods 18 SD male rats were made to adriamycin nephropathy(AN) models and randomly divided control group,model group and treatment group.Treatment group was given GL 200mg/kg daily intragastric administration for consecutive 8 weeks after the first injection of adriblastine.The changes of urine protein at week 2,4,6,8 were observed and biochemical indexes such as ALB,BUN,Cr and CH were determined at week 8. Results 24h urine protein began to decrease on the second experiment week,and after that it was obviously lower in treatment group than that in model group at every time(P0.01).The blood biochemical indexes were also obviously improved in experiment week 8 compared with model group.Conclusion During the occurrence and development course of AN in rat,GL has a beneficial function including reducing urine protein and plasma CH,increasing plasma ALB,as well as improving kidney function,which shows that it has protective effects on adriamycin nephropathy in rats.
