Expression of VEGF and PCNA in Osteosarcoma and Its Clinical Significance

Objective:To study the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and investigate their correlation with microvessel density (MVD) and prognosis.Methods:The immunohistochemistry tech- nique was used to detect the expressions of VEGF,PCNA and MVD density in osteosarcoma tissues from 64 cases.Results:In osteosar- coma tissues,the positive signal of VEGF and PCNA was mainly localized in cytoplasma and karyon of tumor cells.There were positive correlation between the expression of VEGF,PCNA and MVD(P0.05).Positive relationship was also observed between the expression of them and osteosarcomas metastasis and five-year survival rates (P0.05).There was close correlation between the expression of VEGF and PCNA (P0.05).Conclusions:It is suggested that VEGF and PCNA can be regarded as tumor markers to evaluate the prog- nosis of osteosarcoma.
