Abstract
A new late japonica rice variety 'Baonong 203' was bred by means of haploid tissue culture of the F_1 pollen from crossing between 'Wuyunjing 7' and 'Baonong 14',being 105 cm in plant height,2.1-3.0 million per hectare in productive ears,145 - 155 grains a spike,90%in seed-setting rate,25-26 g in 1000-grain weight, and about 160 d in whole growth period. The variety was high in rice yield, good in rice quality and comprehensive resistance, and suitable for being planted in Yangtze River Delta region or similar environmental areas.
