Breeding and Application of Hybrid Early Rice "Jinyou 458"

A new high-yielding late-maturing early indica rice combination Jinyou 458 was bred by crossing between good quality male sterile line Jin 23A and strong restoring line R458 bred by Rice Research Institute, Jiangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Jinyou 458 is characterized by ideal plant type, strong tillering ability, high setting rate, heavy 1000-grain weight, and high seed productive yield. It is suitable for Jinyou 458 to be planted as late-maturing early rice in the mid-lower branches of the Changjiang River. In addition, the characters and high-yielding seed production techniques of Jinyou 458 were introduced in this paper.
