A Deeper Understanding of Deng Xiaoping's Creative Exposition on "the Essence Theory" --A Discussion of the Concept of "Emancipating the Mind"

Familiarity with a concept does not mean a thorough understanding of it. As 100th anniversary of Comrade Deng Xiaoping's birthday is around corner, a deeper understanding of his creative exposition on the Essence Theory is of great practical significance. As first to advocate the Essence Theory, Deng provides a systematic definition of concept, holding that connotations of emancipating mind are of two folds: affirmative side and negative one. As its major meanings are concerned, they are of three levels. At micro level, emancipating mind means to solve problems that remain unsolved in past; at medium level, it means setting of route, guidelines and measures to realize China's modernization; at macro level, moreover, it means reformation of productive relations and superstructure that does not fit for rapid development of China's productive force. Furthermore, its subject is millions of Chinese people that support reform and opening-up under leadership of CPC, and spiritual state that it aims to attain is that of no fear.
