Abstract

Objective To study the effect of pine needle's different part extracts on liver lipids in ovariectomized rats. Methods 50 female Wistar rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: normal group, model group,n-butanol part group, water part group and polysaccharides part group with 10 rats in each group. All rats were ovariectomized except for the normal group. One week after operation, the rats were treated with different medicines.Fourteen weeks after treatment, the rats were killed;the weight, the liver exponent and the levels of TG and TC in serum and liver were measured. Results Compared with model group, the polysaccharides part could significantly decrease the level of triglycerde in both serum and liver of ovariectomied rats, but had no effect on the content of total cholesterol in liver. Conclusion The polysaccharides part of pine needle extract can decrease the level of triglycerde and the fat accumulation in liver of ovariectomied rats.
