Abstract
Objective To study the effect of injection of pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate ammonium(PDTC,a nuclear factor κB inhibitor) on gastric ischemia/reperfusion(GI/R) injury. Methods GI/R injury was induced in rats by clamping the celiac artery for 30 min and then reperfusing for 1 h.After the injection of PDTC(200 mg/kg,i.v.),the gastric mucosal injury index was counted grossly;the effects of PDTC on gastric mucosal cellular proliferation and apoptosis were observed by immunohistochemical and TdT-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling(TUNEL) methods in rats. Results The gastric mucosa was obviously injured after GI/R.PDTC significantly attenuated the GI/R injury, increased the cellular proliferation and decreased the cellular apoptosis in gastric mucosa. Conclusion PDTC can significantly protect against GI/R injury by promoting cellular proliferation and inhibiting cellular apoptosis in gastric mucosa.
