Abstract
Objective:To explore the influence of ischemic preconditioning on focal cerebral infarction in rats. Methods:SD rats were randomly divided into model group and pretreatment group.Middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO)-reperfusion model in rats was established in the model group. The pretreatment group underwent 20-min ischemic preconditioning two times 7 days before the surgery of MCAO-reperfusion.Neurological grading was conducted twice within 1 week after the surgery of MCAO-reperfusion.One week after the surgery of MCAO-reperfusion the rats were decapitated and the infarct volume was examined by TTC staining. Results:The neurological deficit had a fast improvement(P0.01) and the infarct volume was significantly reduced(P0.01) in the pretreatment group. Conclusion:Ischemic preconditioning has a protective effect on focal cerebral infraction in rats.
